“History flows forward on rivers of beer.” - Anonymous

fountainThe rich history and traditions of America were forged at the first colonial taverns, where unassuming, educated men gathered to discuss freedom and local politics and partake in the refreshment of great ales. Patrick Henry went so far as to call taverns the “cradles of liberty.” Many of our founding fathers, including Jefferson and Washington, were known for not only enjoying “small beers” at taverns, but also for brewing their own recipes at home.

Here in Georgetown, Delaware, we can only surmise that taverns also served as the meeting places for our first patriots. As the County Seat and home of Return Day, Georgetown has traditionally been a place where politicians and local leaders gather to forge strong connections. We believe that Georgetown, our hometown, can once again be the place where great minds gather to contemplate a brighter future...while drinking great ales. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce the opening of 16 Mile Brewing Company, a microbrewery dedicated to bringing simple, yet distinctive ales to Delaware and beyond.
